It's a wrap!
November 15th, SHOWDAY.
We CAN be Heroes - DONE.
Everybody needed to be at school early that day to organize everything needed to be brought over to the event place (Aliwal Arts Centre) and my team needed to be at the place earlier to bring all the apparel over, the lookboard, model sequence paper because all of these needed to be ready at the backstage area.
Once everyone arrived with the racks, my team and I organized the racks with clothes accordingly. I checked multiple times to make sure everything is in order. Shortly after, I gave brief instructions with guidelines to my team mates making sure they understand their tasks throughout the event day and if they need further clarification, do approach me and ask before the event.
Being backstage, getting ready for the show gave me anxiety but I remained calm, making sure each model's look boards are organized with their designers clothes on each racks (each rack = 3 to 4 models look boards), checking on each model's makeup, rehearsals, briefing everyone including models, telling them who are their dresser during the entire show, and where they should stand at all time.
It was a crazy day till the end of the event. I was emotional when the event was over, done and dusted. In denial at how can 6 months worth of hard work ends in just one day, soon it will be forgotten by most but I will definitely have a special place for this event in my heart.
To conclude, I have learnt so much in the duration of 6 months, about being a fashion stylist leader as well as one of the event organizer. The hardest thing to do is to manage everyone in my team, making sure everyone is supposed to do their part as well as guiding them in each and every step of the way as a leader. The process was lengthy and no way exhaustion or sleep deprived was being part of the plan however, we had to push through and work together in order to make it a great event no matter what were the circumstances. To me, it was a great experience because it opened up some things that I never thought I have in me for example; my endurance and patience every step of the way.
