Guangzhou Day 3
Day 3 on the 10th of March 2018, we woke up at 7:30AM and I ate a rice meal in the morning that I bought at a convenience store nearby our hotel incase my stomach gets upset again. We left the hotel at 9:00AM to the wholesale bazaar known as China Fabric and Accessories Center. My friends and I walked around the bazaar to find anything that might interest us or help us for our Future Fashion Project assignment but we ended up buying iron on patches for our personal clothes. I did not get to buy fabrics because I do not need any for my project but we did browse around to see the kinds of fabrics the sellers in the bazaar have. Here are some of the photos I took on that day:
I definitely do wish Singapore has a wholesale bazaar like this that sells almost everything that designers need or for us fashion marketers when we did our product development module back then at an affordable price. This market definitely is worth the visit for those who needs fabric, buttons, trimmings or even handbag straps. I definitely saw a lot of Gucci designs and Chanel as well as any other luxury designer brands materials for people who would like to design their own version of the luxury brands. After browsing the wholesale bazaar we went to have lunch and we ate in one of the Chinese restaurants in the wholesale bazaar area.
Thats the end of the wholesale bazaar, then we went to IGC mall to observe on 4 different brands.
1. Adolfo Dominguez
2. Mo & Co.
3. Aquascutum
4. Urban Revivo
However to conclude, local designer brands in China are much more expensive than International brands. Mo. & Co. was expensive for medium grade quality apparels that I can similarly find at ZARA at a cheaper price or even H&M.
Urban Revivo is my favorite, it was affordable and store layout was similar to ZARA, on top of that, the quality of the clothes were almost the same with ZARA, not bad I must say.
