Day 2 we visited a textile factory known as DECKS Pte. Ltd.
During this visit, we got to meet Mr. Kelvyn Chee the Managing Director of DECKS and he owns brands in Singapore known as the Surfers Paradise as well as the Island Shop. We learnt a lot during the factory visit and these are some of the things I learnt, the machine in his factory can produce up to 25 to 35 Kilograms per roll of fabric. On top of that, the threads are a 100% cotton supplied from a cotton farm but if there are any polyester fabric, they would order the polyester fabric from a specific company. DECKS factory is mainly for exports, textile supplies or even the complete process for clients that would like to manufacture their own clothes with DECKS. DECKS mainly have clients from all over Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore. In addition to that, the main factors to look for when dealing with factories in China are; price, minimum quantity, promptness and communication as well as understanding. Last but not least, for DECKS minimum order of 1,000 pieces includes 2-3 colors as well as 4-5 designs but if there are any clients that insists on 300 to 500 pieces only, the order would be more more expensive and it would take about 4 to 5 weeks for samplings on standard t-shirt designs.
It was such a great experience to see how the t-shirts are made in a factory
